Blackhawk™ Hydraulic Nuts

Drastically speed up turnaround maintenance on your critical equipment. Installed on applications throughout the nuclear industry, breakout of large, high-pressure flanges can be slashed to less than two hours using half the manpower. By providing the highest level of Certainty of Outcome, BlackHawk™ Nuts allow you to shorten the turnaround time for any project.

Sizing: Custom designed to fit the application, typically 1” to 18” and everything in between
Load: Requirement is specified by the customer and application. We have designed Hydraulic Nuts that produce in excess of 3,000,000 lbf
Operating Pressure: 21,750 psi to 33,000 psi
Stroke: 3/8” is the typical stroke
Maximum Pressure: 850°F
Seals: Custom designed for the application to eliminate leaks
Material: Equivalent to studs being used; typical materials are 4340 HT, 4140 HT, EN24, Inconel, and various stainless steels

Velocity Washer™

Installed just like a normal washer, the Velocity Washer™ increases production and lowers labor costs with its ultra-fast disassembly speed. A simple 12-degree turn to the left allows the washer to pop and the load to be removed. Its symmetric design increases safety, with no hot bolting, torching, machining, or nut splitting required. It fits anywhere a hardened washer fits, and no special tools are needed to install it.

Technical Specifications

Sizing: Sizes range from ¾” to 5” bolt diameter
Load: Designed to relieve 0.12” of bolt stretch. That is equivalent to 100% bolt yield on a 34” grip length.
Loading Range: The load-bearing area of the washer is greater than that of the bolt, and it is made from a stronger material. So, anything the bolt can take, the Velocity Washer can take.
Maximum Temperature: The max temp is around 850°F. We can provide other alloys that can take a max temp of up to 1100°F safely, if needed
Vibration: The Velocity Washer™ is designed to eliminate vibration, having been tested using 30 G of acceleration and 15,400 lbs of shaker force on more than 30,000 test cycles
Material: The standard washer is made from heat-treated and stress-relieved HT4340. We can provide a variety of custom materials based on each customer’s unique needs
